Between the years 1900 and 1903, the period of industrial depression caused many bankruptcies and the employment rate decreased drastically. The employees and the ones who lost their jobs became uncontrollable. Workers began organizing strikes. The strikes began in the year 1902 by the railroad shop workers in the towns Rostov-on-Don and in Vladikavkaz. Workers would join organizations’ and make the organizations fail so miserably causing the organizations’ sponsors to refuse to be involved.
Throughout 1905, protests ranged from liberal rhetoric to strikes, student riots and terrorist assassinations. The strikes took a turn from mobilized factory workers to small businesses and white-collar worker of the city centers. The railroaders’ strike gave them control of Russia’s communication, which allowed them to talk about strikes throughout the entire empire. These strikes only caused problems and destroyed the cities.
